Laparoscopic Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy, also known as gastric sleeve surgery, gastric sleeve resection or simply sleeve gastrectomy, is one of the most innovative types of weight loss surgery performed today.

Gastric Sleeve Plication, also referred to as Greater Curvature Plication (GCP), is a bariatric surgery procedure that uses the restrictive technique to achieve weight loss. The surgery, performed laparoscopically, is very similar to gastric sleeve surgery in the restriction of the stomach. Gastric plication is a less invasive weight loss procedure than gastric sleeve – there is no cutting, stapling or bypassing the intestines.

Gastric banding uses an implant to help restrict a person’s stomach capacity. Gastric banding has been performed over 750,000 times, and is the second most popular weight loss surgery in the United States.

Gastric bypass surgery, is also known as roux-en-y (RNY for short) gastric bypass and is performed by our surgeons laparoscopically. Gastric bypass is the leading weight loss surgery performed today, capable of reversing the most severe co-morbidities including type 2 diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, depression and more.

The duodenal switch surgery, also known as biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch (BPD/DS), is a powerful weight loss and metabolic surgery. Duodenal switch is so powerful that 98% of patients with type 2 diabetes are “cured” after the surgery.

Weight loss surgery can and does fail at times for a variety of reasons. Patients who experience failure many times are reluctant to seek assistance because they feel that every attempt they have made to reach a healthy stable weight, has failed so they themselves are a failure. NOT TRUE!

Obesity is defined as the condition of being very overweight and having a body mass index, or BMI, of 30 or higher. The BMI is a measure of your weight relative to your height.

Your waist size is also important. It is a measure of your abdominal fat. Your health risks increase as your BMI and waist size get larger. A waist measurement greater than 40 inches for men or 35 inches for women indicates a significant increase in health risk.
